The Opportunity
TalentPool first partnered with GÜ in 2009, during one of the most exciting periods in the brand’s early growth.
As GÜ redefined the premium chilled desserts category, increasing consumer demand and expanding retailer distribution created the need for greater commercial capability. To support its ambitions, the business invested in strengthening its leadership team across key commercial functions.
TalentPool was appointed to help build the organisation that would support the brand’s next phase of growth.
TalentPool Impact

Five strategic appointments were made during our initial partnership, helping to build the cross-functional leadership capability needed to support rapid growth.

Our contribution helped GÜ
- Expand relationships with the UK’s leading grocery retailers

Creating Value
GÜ quickly established itself as the category leader in premium chilled desserts through a combination of product innovation, premium positioning and commercial excellence.
The business expanded significantly across UK retail, built an international presence and became one of Britain’s most recognisable premium food brands.
Following its acquisition by Noble Foods, GÜ continued to grow, reaching more than £69 million in annual retail sales before being acquired by private equity firm Exponent in 2021.
While the transaction value was not publicly disclosed, industry reports at the time suggested a valuation in excess +£100 million.
A Partnership That Continues
Our relationship with GÜ didn’t end following its change in ownership.
More than 15 years after our initial engagement, TalentPool was invited to partner with the Exponent-backed business once again, supporting the leadership team during its next phase of growth.
Recent appointments include:
- Head of Shopper Marketing
- Head of Category Marketing
- Category Manager
- Procurement Manager
For us, this is one of the strongest measures of success.
The continuation of our partnership across multiple ownership structures reflects the long-term relationships we strive to build and the confidence our clients continue to place in TalentPool.

Why It Matters
The strongest partnerships aren’t measured by a single assignment, they’re measured over time.
TalentPool has supported GÜ through multiple stages of growth, changing ownership structures and evolving leadership teams.
That continuity demonstrates not only our ability to identify exceptional talent, but also the long-term trust we’ve built with one of the UK’s leading consumer brands.
