Giving Back Through the Game: Ameet’s Journey as a Volunteer Coach

|

If you are trying to speak to Ameet after 5pm on a Friday, your chances are slim. By then, his focus has firmly shifted from the working week to the football pitch, where the Bromley FC Under-10s are waiting for their much-anticipated Friday night training session.

Football coaching has been a long-standing passion for Ameet. He gained his first FA Level 1 qualification in 2006 and soon after became a coach at Phoenix FC in Bexleyheath. Over the following years, he dedicated himself to coaching and managing young players, despite not even having his own children in the team at the time. It was a commitment driven purely by a love of the game and a desire to help young people grow in confidence, character and ability.

After many rewarding years on the touchline, Ameet stepped away from coaching. But in 2022, he answered the call once again when Bromley Football Club invited him to join the coaching team for their then Under-7s set-up, this time with his own son among the players.

Since returning, Ameet has dedicated his Fridays and Sundays to the team on an entirely voluntary basis. His commitment has helped create not just a competitive football team, but a positive and supportive environment for young players to develop and enjoy the game. Along the way, he has proudly watched the team achieve some wonderful successes, including winning the Tandridge Gold Trophy in 2025, as well as finishing runners-up in the Gold Final in 2024 and again in the Winter 2025 competition.

True to his belief in continuous personal development, Ameet has also invested in his own growth as a coach. Alongside his professional responsibilities, he took the time to complete and pass his UEFA C Diploma – a highly regarded qualification that demands significant commitment, discipline, and practical application. The course includes 6 full-day modules, 2 practical assessments, and submitted coursework, all designed to test both technical knowledge and real-world coaching ability. Balancing this with a full-time role meant dedicating evenings, weekends, and time away from the office to study, plan sessions, and refine his approach – making his achievement all the more impressive!

The TalentPool Foundation, we are incredibly proud of one of our own for giving his time so generously to the community. Ameet’s story is a reminder that making a difference does not always happen in big, visible moments. Sometimes it happens on cold Friday evenings and early Sunday mornings, through encouragement, dedication and the steady effort of helping shape young lives for the better.
